For Doctors

Plant medicine provides patients with a natural alternative to potentially improve quality of life. With doctors playing a central role in assisting patients in accessing these treatments, we offer ongoing support for understanding and prescribing our cannabis medications.

Pathways for prescribing

As cannabis medicines in Australia are largely unapproved, doctors must apply to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) through the Special Access Scheme (SAS) pathways to prescribe medicinal cannabis for their patients. The two pathways to prescribing are:

[1] Special Access Scheme [SAS]

SAS-B submissions and approvals from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA)

[2] Approved Prescribers [AP]

Approved Prescribers [AP] are Doctors authorsided to prescribe specific product catagories of plant medicinces, which they can prescribe immediately.

When prescribing medical cannabis in Australia, applying for your patients is a seamless process. The TGA’s Online Portal streamlines the process, enabling simultaneous submission of TGA and State Health (if necessary) applications. Applications will generally with approved or unapproved within 24 hrs.
